Roger and Debbie,

Thank you, thank you for such an uplifting post.
If I had half the optimism you have, I would be a happier person! Your struggles have made you so strong "in the strength of Someone else"
Thank you for encouraging us again.
I know it is Thanksgiving for you there, ours was a month ago..... but we are still grateful for the same basic things.. especially the love of Christ.
Debbie, your attitude with Roger inspires us other wives to be more positive and thankful.
We are still praying and hoping Roger can be in Red Deer in July.

With love from BC Canada,

Carolyn

We have so much to be thankful for in this country, and today I am thankful for all of God's blessings and the fact that Roger is stable. I have thought of him often today and I will continue to keep you both in my prayers.

Debbie,
Thanks for the update on Roger. You just be sure that he does what he is told and that you get some rest. Take care and remember that always you are 'In His Grip' and in our prayers. We are still--

Dear Debbie...I am glad that you made Roger something good for thanksgiving..his mom's recipe at that! Will he be able to have pepsi with it?
Of course the BEST thing that he has for his Thanksgiving is YOU dear Debbie.
You have been a real model of what a loving wife should be and not only are you being an example to so many people, you are also loving every moment as you travel the road with your sweetheart through good and bad times!! The Lord's blessings on you and Roger and Jordan and Chelsea on this special day....Love from Bernie and Terry

Roger and Debbie,
You have been in my thoughts and prayers many months. I have listened to your music for years and you blessed me so very much.
4 years ago, my 10 month grandson was diagnosised with ALL. He went through a year of intense treatment. We prayed and touch God in his behalf. He is almost 5 and is a big bouncing boy.
Last year, my neice was diagnosised with the same leukemia. It didn't seem fair, but who says life is fair. Only God in his wonderful mercy is fair. She is still on treatment but is in remission. She has increased our faith with her never failing assurance she was healed.
As you said, things could be so much worse and I that God every day for His goodness. What a wonderful God we serve!
Will continue to pray and expect to see you at concerts soon!

Dear Roger & Debbie,

I have been thinking of you today and pray for you often. Early in the day I took a walk and listen to Legacy Five "Live at Music City". One thing I appreciate about your CD's is that all of the songs have special meaning and are not just fill-ins with only a couple good songs. L5 songs have been an encouragement on trying days and on good days. This has been a quiet Thanksgiving for us. We were not able to be with extended family in OH today. But we cooked the family recipes and 3 of us had a good day and also talked with family on the phone. I hope you got to talk with yours also. Keep the faith.

Dear Debbie and Roger,
You are so special. I pray that in the middle of this you have renewed revelation of how much God really loves you.... More than you could ever imagine or dream. That is my prayer as you go through this. Fresh awareness of His presence and love right in the middle of the pain. Recently I got through a bad patch by literally putting out my hand to hold the hand I knew would not forsake me. I clung to that hand with all the strength I had and somehow he dragged me through. When you are weak He is strong.

Now unto Him who is able to do ......

Blessings

Anne in New Zealand.

Roger & Debbie,

Thanks for your uplifitng post. Once again, you have been very inspiring.

We are praying that Roger will soon have some relief in the discomfort that he is experiencing.

We send our love and prayers to you and your family, as well as to all of L5.

I received my transplant 21/2 years ago tomorrow, 11/25/06 at MD Anderson. While there I had the great fortune to meet Roger and Debbie. I pray for them every day.
I have been blessed with a wonderful recovery and enjoy every day that God blesses me with. Yesterday, Thanksgiving Day, while in Church, I thanked God for my Leukemia. That may sound crazy to you but it is the biggest blessing that God has ever bestowed on me. How can this be you say?
I know that no matter how hard I would have prayed, no matter how hard I would have tried to do what Jesus wants me to do, I would have never reached the peace I now have. I have peace with life, with God and with death. How liberating a journey it has been.
Happy Thanksgiving.

When Roger feels a little better, and he will, tell him we never move the picture taken in Imperial, CA, from our mantel. It features a smiling Roger, my wife, and myself. I have pictures of Presidents, but Roger's smiling face seems more appropriate, because of the message it brings to all us. May God bless all the Bennett family most richly. Debbie,
Please read my post that I left for November 19th as it explains and gives details for the donation process for blood and platelets for the people to give in Rogers behalf.
You can then refer them to that day for the info and the National number to call for centers to go to to give.
I hope all stays well and on course so you may hopefully enjoy the Christmas holiday a little better and I'm praying, that for you both, this will be the last holiday in a hospital setting you both have for a long long time.

Yours in the name of our blessed Jesus,

"J" Orr

I'm so happy you were blessed with a good Thanksgiving, I know it is always hard to be away from home, but I know God sends angels to help you get through it! I know you continue to remain "In His Grip.!"

What I'm Reading Right Now

  • Ron Mehl: What God Whispers in the Night

Ron Mehl: What God Whispers in the Night
Ron Mehl is a hero that I never met. A friend gave me this book a couple of years ago and it really touched me. Ron was suffering with Leukemia and had written several wonderful books before this one "Whispers" really got to me. The main thought is why is it that God who IS light, who created light, does so much of his work in the dark? The answer, because that's where WE are. We struggle in darkness, our weakness is more pronounced in the darkness and we feel so alone in our darkness. But....God is not intimidated by the dark! He invades it and speaks to us there! You should read this book asap. (*****)
